Travelers and "Scooby Doo" movie fans who want to recreate the film's enchantment may now book a stay in the Mystery Machine, the show's famous minibus, on Airbnb.
In honor of Scooby-Doo: The Movie's 20th anniversary, actor Matthew Lillard, who portrayed Shaggy in the film, is renting out The Mystery Machine on Airbnb for the first time. Lillard stated in a statement, "I have been channeling Shaggy since the live-action adaption in 2002, and he has been a part of me ever since." Airbnb Host: "I can't wait to welcome visitors into the world of the Mystery Inc. crew and offer them a summer vacation they'll never forget...monsters not included!"
This time, though, the process of making a reservation is crystal clear. Starting at 1 p.m. ET on June 16, the famous bus may be reserved online for the nights of June 24, 25, and 26 for a cost of only $20 per night, plus tax and fees. It is situated in southern California. Airbnb has said that visitors are responsible for their own transportation to and from the state driving directions
Guests will be greeted by Lillard himself when they check in virtually and have unlimited access to food. In addition to the outside lounge furniture and hammock, the bus is also equipped with a lava lamp, a jukebox from the year 2002, a Sugar Ray record, and Shaggy's characteristic puka shell necklace.
Scooby Snacks, popcorn, and a viewing of Scooby Doo: The Movie are available to visitors between cases.
It's not the first time Airbnb has teamed up with a famous person or a Hollywood landmark to provide a unique experience. The business revealed a hidden apartment under the Moulin Rouge's red windmill in Paris last month and featured a Palm Desert retreat created by "Queer Eye" star Bobby Berk in the same publication. As a matter of fact, the site features various formerly famous people's residences, such as those of Sonny and Cher, Julie Andrews, Jimi Hendrix, and John Lenno.
